Thrift Family & The Old Mill Farm
Our Mission
Our mission at The Old Mill Farm is to preserve and share the traditional way of life that our father cherished when he built this sawmill in 1981. What began as a lumber operation has since flourished into a vibrant farming venture. We strive to connect families with the origins of their food, from raising beef to growing corn and crafting Southern staples like grits. Looking ahead, we aim to offer the public a unique insight into the art of transforming trees into lumber, ensuring these timeless skills endure for generations.
About Thrift Lumber & Old Mill Farms
For over 40 years, the Thrift family has been dedicated to the art of custom lumber at The Old Mill Farm. Joey Thrift, with his deep-rooted passion, still fires up the 100-year-old sawmill to craft rare and unique pieces of lumber, some of which he treasures deeply. Beyond lumber, the Thrift family takes immense pride in their 120-acre farm, meticulously maintained to create a pristine environment.
As we expand into agritourism, The Old Mill Farm is excited to open its gates to the community, offering a picturesque venue for events, private parties, weddings, and seasonal celebrations. The Thrift family’s heritage and dedication shines through in every aspect of the farm, making it a perfect place for creating cherished memories. We are excited to share our rich history and the beauty of our farm with families and friends, ensuring a memorable experience for all.
